Windi Rosson Americanimals August 7 – September 30, 2015 receptions August 7 and September 4, 6 – 9 pm concurrent with the First Friday Gallery Hops June 28, 2015 – Louisville, KY – Windi Rosson’s “Americanimals,” satiric mixed-media sculpture, opens Friday Aug. 7 @ garner narrative. The show continues through Sept. 30. Rosson manipulates discarded dolls and toys. What if, for the sake of decency or survival or redemption, we recycle ourselves back into the animal kingdom? Yet retain parts of our iconic southern “American” attitudes and lifestyles. A mother accepts she’ll never get back that exciting career she set aside to raise her children, but maybe it’s working for her. Spoiled children sally forth with mismatched and dysfunctional parts, while bright-eyed feral high school girls pose for the Homecoming Court. Tom and his husband Mitch, having fought and won the long good fight for love, finally put themselves out to pasture. Rosson’s sharp eye comes in part from many relocations across the US during her 20 year stint as a US Army spouse. Rosson lived in the Mojave Desert, Upstate New York, Alaska, and Tennessee; she currently keeps her studio on five rural acres in Georgia. Rosson will attend the opening reception, Friday Aug. 7 from 6-9 p.m. For more information, additional images: americanimalsflyer
